Bored of studying at the same spot? Tired of being at Bartle? If you want to try out different study spots on campus, this blog is for you! Here’s a quick fun fact about me: I have never willingly studied at Bartle. Ironically, something about studying at the library makes me rather unproductive and distracted. I’m an explorer, and naturally that made me ponder off to hunt for the various and best study spots on campus!
I love natural light and a quiet background so most of my suggestions reflect that. Listed below are five of my favorite places to study, enjoy!
Study Spot #1 - The Underground at Union
Underground? More like an underdog study spot… haha. Let’s start off tame with the underground. Located right below Dunkins and near Marketplace, this is the best place to study as you grab a quick bite. This was my go-to spot during my freshman year because it was near my dorm and of course, the accessibility to matcha latte. You can always study out in the open in the main area or in the more secluded sections, which includes the rooms underneath the staircase or in the “think tank”. It does get crowded in the afternoons during class times so be mindful of that when going!
Study Spot #2 - The Success Centers
There are two success centers on campus connected to the C4 and Hinman dining hall, respectively. The one in C4 is right above the eating area while Hinman's success center is located in the Rockefeller Collegiate Center. Both places have printing and chargers available, and are typically quiet. I personally prefer studying at the Rockefeller Center because of the large whiteboards they have, as shown in the picture below. And if you forget to bring markers, don't worry because you can always ask the person at the front desk!
Study Spot #3 - Dickinson Study Lounges
I may be biased because I lived in the Dickinson community but... I LOVE THEIR LOUNGES. They are always cool no matter the temperature outside and each room has a nice whiteboard mounted against the wall. My friends and I would grab a room and study for hours. I also like the surprisingly comfortable sofas in the lounges!
Study Spot #4 - Classroom Wing
The Classroom Wing is a new study spot I found this year. The common area, shown in the picture below, can be found on the first and second floor. Though it gets loud when classes end with people in the hallway, it is extremely quiet during class time! I like to stay here to complete some work before my literature class starts. There are also vending machines located in the corner so if you ever need a quick snack, you know where to go ;))!
Study Spot #5 - The Innovation Lab
To no one's surprise, the innovation lab is another amazing study spot on campus. I see a lot of students studying here so it is definitely more well-known than the other places on the list. Located near the Jazzman Cafe, it contains a lot of open space but also secluded study areas. For example, there are pods and study rooms located throughout. I personally love how modern the area looks and feels!
And... These are Daisy's Top 5 Campus Study Spots!!
Thank you for reading my blog and I hope it helped! I tried to include some studying spots that not many people go to like the success centers. Overall, Binghamton University has a wide selection of places to do work at that is not just the library or in dorms. Good luck to everyone as finals season is approaching!
