    Decker Staff

    Decker College's Division of Advising and Academic Excellence hires high-achieving nursing students to serve as peer advisors and student ambassadors.

    ​

    • Peer advisors assist with day-to-day office tasks and offer regularly scheduled walk-in hours to assist current and prospective Decker students.

    ​

    • Student ambassadors represent the division at special events such as prospective student Q&A sessions and open house events.

    ​

    Peer advisors
    Peer advisors undergo extensive training and have a thorough knowledge of the admissions process, program requirements, registration processes and policies, as well as the Binghamton campus and support services. Their firsthand experiences at Binghamton University and in Decker College make them ideally suited to assist prospective and current nursing students with a range of issues

    Student ambassadors
    Student ambassadors have extensive knowledge of our undergraduate and graduate programs, admissions process, the Binghamton campus and available support services. They are extensively trained to answer prospective and admitted students' questions, share their firsthand experiences and assist with staffing special events.

    Grace C., Student, Career, and Alumni Connections Graduate Assistant
    Hometown: Binghamton, NY
    Current Program: Physical Therapy, DPT

    Grace is in her first year of the physical therapy program and as the graduate assistant for Decker College. She received a B.S. in Kinesiology from 
    The University of Massachusetts Amherst. Grace was on the softball team at UMass and is also a member of The Hidden Opponent, a non-profit mental health organization for student athletes.

    Abigail D., Peer Advisor and Student Ambassador 
    Hometown: Ocean City, MD
    Class: Senior

    Abigail is an intra-university transfer and was accepted into Decker College as a junior. This is her first year as a peer advisor and student ambassador. Abigail is a mentor and academic coordinator with the Mary E. Mahoney Nursing Support Group and has worked as a nursing assistant.

    Allison P., Peer Advisor and Student Ambassador
    Hometown: Vietnam
    Class: Junior

    Allison was admitted to Decker College as a freshman. This is her first year as a peer advisor and student ambassador. Allison is currently the secretary of the Mary E. Mahoney nursing support group and an area assistant for Binghamton Residential Life.

    Anthony F., Student Ambassador 
    Hometown: Poughkeepsie, NY
    Class: Baccalaureate Accelerated Track

    Anthony is in the BAT program at Binghamton. This is his first year as a student ambassador. He received a B.S. in Biology from Seton Hall University and has experience as a mental health worker at NY Presbyterian.

    Daisy L., Peer Advisor
    Hometown: Flushing, NY
    Class: Senior

    Daisy was admitted to Decker College as a freshman and is in her third year as a Peer Advisor. She has been part of the Taiwanese American Student Coalition for the past three years and is currently the secretary. She is also the treasurer of the Mary E. Mahoney nursing support group.

    Iris L., Student Ambassador
    Hometown: Demarest, NJ
    Class: Junior

    Iris was admitted to Decker College as a freshman and this is her first year as a student ambassador. She is a member of the Nursing Student Association and Mary E. Mahoney nursing support group. Outside of the classroom, Iris works as a teacher aide.

    Isabella D., Student Ambassador 
    Hometown: Hopewell Junction, NY
    Class: Junior

    Bella was admitted to Decker College her freshman year. This is her second year as a student ambassador. She works as a medical secretary outside of school and has previously volunteered in a cat shelter.

    Jenna F., Student Ambassador
    Hometown: Middletown, NY
    Class: Baccalaureate Accelerated Track

    Jenna received a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the City College of New York and is currently in the BAT nursing program. This is her first year as a student ambassador. During her time at undergrad, Jenna participated in Interact Club, Vision Latina, and Global Brigades.

    Kelly L., Peer Advisor
    Hometown: Staten Island, NY
    Class: Junior

    Kelly was admitted as a first-year to Decker and is currently in her second year as a peer advisor. She is the events coordinator for the Mary E. Mahoney nursing support group and is a patient care technician in a medical-surgical unit at Guthrie Lourdes.

    Keying L., Student Ambassador
    Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
    Class: Sophomore

    Keying was admitted to Decker College as a freshman and this is her first year as a student ambassador. She has previously worked as a teacher’s assistant at the New York Chinese School and is currently general intern of the Kpop Club at Binghamton. 

    Maia D., Student Ambassador 
    Hometown: East Brunswick, NJ
    Class: Junior 

    Maia was admitted to Decker College as a first-year student and this is her first year as a student ambassador. She has previously worked as an inclusion program camp counselor and has been a member of EBPL Red Cross and Sources of Strength.
     

    Mina H., Student Ambassador
    Hometown: Culver, MN
    Class: Baccalaureate Accelerated Track

    Mina is in the BAT Program at Decker College. This is her first year as a student ambassador. She has previously received a B.A. in psychology from Ithaca College and currently works as a phlebotomist at UHS Wilson.

    Natalia N., Student Ambassador
    Hometown: West Babylon, NY
    Class: Baccalaureate Accelerated Track

    Natalia is in the BAT program at Decker College and  this is her first year as a student ambassador. She obtained a B.S. in psychology from SUNY Cortland. Natalia has experience working on an EMS team and as a logistics coordinator for the Rotary Youth Leadership coordination.

    Nicole K., Student Ambassador
    Hometown: Queensbury, NY
    Class: Baccalaureate Accelerated Track

    Nicole is in the BAT program at Decker College. This is her first year as a student ambassador. She received a B.S. in Fitness and Wellness from SUNY Plattsburgh. She was a member of the women’s soccer team at SUNY Plattsburgh and has recently worked as a patient care assistant at Glens Falls Hospital.

    Sirei J., Peer Advisor and Student Ambassador
    Hometown: Staten Island, NY
    Class: Senior

    Sirei transferred into the Decker College Nursing Program as a sophomore and is in his second year with the Decker student staff. He is a member of residential life here at Binghamton and has previously worked in the Hematology-Oncology Unit at Maimonides Medical Center and NYU Langone Orthopedics.

    Tina L., Peer Advisor and Student Ambassador
    Hometown: New York, NY
    Class: Senior

    Tina is an intra-university transfer who was accepted into Decker College as a sophomore. She is in her second year on the Decker student staff. Tina is a Late Nite Binghamton general staff employee and currently works as a patient care technician at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital.

    Tova K., Peer Advisor and Student Ambassador 
    Hometown: Memphis, TN
    Class: Junior 

    Tova was admitted to Decker College as a freshman. This is her first year as a peer advisor and student ambassador. Tova is an area assistant for Binghamton residential life and previously spent a summer in Israel as an intern in the Young Adult Vocational Program.
