Decker College's Division of Advising and Academic Excellence hires high-achieving nursing students to serve as peer advisors and student ambassadors.

Peer advisors assist with day-to-day office tasks and offer regularly scheduled walk-in hours to assist current and prospective Decker students.

Student ambassadors represent the division at special events such as prospective student Q&A sessions and open house events.

Peer advisors
Peer advisors undergo extensive training and have a thorough knowledge of the admissions process, program requirements, registration processes and policies, as well as the Binghamton campus and support services. Their firsthand experiences at Binghamton University and in Decker College make them ideally suited to assist prospective and current nursing students with a range of issues
Student ambassadors
Student ambassadors have extensive knowledge of our undergraduate and graduate programs, admissions process, the Binghamton campus and available support services. They are extensively trained to answer prospective and admitted students' questions, share their firsthand experiences and assist with staffing special events.

Jess J., Student Engagement & Event Assistant

Class: Senior
Minor: Health & Wellness
Jess was admitted to Decker College as a first-year student. This is her second year as a student ambassador. Jessica is a member of the Binghamton University Kickline, the Boys and Girls Club, Wishmakers Club, and a Unibuddy.
Taylor C., Student Staff Leader

Class: Senior
Minor: Health and Wellness
Taylor was admitted to Decker as a first-year student, and this is her second year working with Decker as a student staff member. Taylor works for the Binghamton University Tutorial Services, and she is involved in Greek life on campus. Taylor is also a nursing assistant.
Daisy L., Peer Advisor and Student Ambassador

Class: Junior
Daisy was admitted to Decker College as a freshman and joined us as a second-year Peer Advisor and Student Ambassador. She has been a part of the Taiwanese American Student Coalition for the past three years and previously was the freshman representative, and recreational chair, and this year will be the Secretary.
Kylah M., Student Ambassador

Class: Baccalaureate Accelerated Track
Previous degree: Psychology
Kylah is a BAT student, and this is her first year as a student ambassador. Previously, Denise obtained a bachelor’s in Psychology. Kylah has previously worked as a Nurse Technician at their local hospital. She also participates with the National Hemophilia Foundation’s “Walk for Hemophilia” each year.

Kate was admitted to Decker College as a first-year student and she is a student staff leader. Kate is the Philanthropy chair of the Phi Mu sorority and the University Scholars Program. She also serves as the President of the Nursing Student Association.

Emily was admitted to Decker as a freshman, and this is her first year as a student ambassador. Emily also works as a Student Experience Consultant at the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development and as a Test Reader for Services for Students with Disabilities. Emily also is on the Women's Rugby Team.

Emily was admitted as an Intra-University Transfer student, and this is her second year as a Decker student ambassador and peer advisor. Emily is active in the Binghamton University community as a Phi Mu sorority member and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America on Campus

Kevin was admitted as a BAT student, and this is his first year as a student ambassador. Kevin is interested in being a ref for local lacrosse or playing for club lacrosse.

Current Program: MS Family Nurse Practitioner
Bachelor’s Degree: Nursing, Binghamton University; Biological Sciences, Binghamton University
Hannah is a student in the Family Nurse Practitioner program and this is her second year working with Decker as a graduate student but previously served as a student ambassador during her nursing degree as well. Hannah earned a degree in Biological Sciences from Binghamton University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Decker through the Baccalaureate Accelerated Track program.

Bella was admitted to Decker as a first-year student, and this is her first year as a student ambassador. Bella is an active member of the Environmental Club as well as Paws and Effects.

Kelly was admitted to Decker College as a first-year student, and this is her first year as a peer advisor. Kelly is also the event coordinator at MEM Nursing Support Group, TRIO peer mentor, and an incoming PCT at Lourdes hospital.

Kaavya was admitted to Decker College as a first-year student and this is her second year as a student ambassador. Kaavya additionally works at the Fleishman Career Center and is a member of the Nursing Student Association.

Sirei was admitted to Decker College as a traditional transfer student, and this is his first year as a student ambassador and peer advisor. Sirei additionally works within ResLife as a Student Support Assistant on campus

Maddie was admitted to Decker as an Intra-University Transfer student and this is her second year as a peer advisor and student ambassador. Maddie is part of the Binghamton University Dance Team and is a University Tutorial Services student manager.

Samantha was admitted to Decker College as an Intra-University Transfer student, and this is her second year as a Decker student ambassador. Samantha is a member of the One Special World Club and the Best Buddies Club. She is also a member of a sorority on campus.
