Whether your applying for a summer externship or that first nursing job after graduation it is important to have a solid resume in order to have the best chance of getting that dream position. And if you think that you don't have any experience to put on your resume- think again! Nursing resumes are different in the fact that they include the clinical hours and certifications that you get from being a student within Decker. Here are some resources to help you get started writing the perfect resume:
The Fleischman Center for Career and Professional Development at Binghamton University is a great place to go for help with your resume! You can give them a call at (607) 777-2400 or make an appointment on Handshake to go over what you all ready have or for help getting started. While they are located on the main Binghamton campus, virtual appointments are avaible. Another great resource that they have are pre made resume templates. You can find downloadable templates on there website at the following link (https://careertools.binghamton.edu/resources/downloadable-resume-cv-templates/).
The Decker Advising office is another great place to get connected to resources. Whether that be connecting to your faculty or professional advisor, by reading this blog, or just emailing the office. In fact, this semester we have a liasion between the Fleishman Center and Decker Advising just to help nursing students!
Another great resource is your professors! Most of the professors at Decker also work as nurses or have been nurses before becoming professors so therefore they have first hand knoweldge of the job application process. They are always great people to go to for advice!
When writing your resume or after when you are using it to apply to jobs we wish you the best of luck and success in all of your future endeavors!
