Entertainment in Quarantine

Updated: Mar 31, 2020

As everyone knows, times are tough right now. Whether you're home or at school, conditions haven't been ideal lately with having to stay inside for weeks on end. With this said, it is important to find things to keep your mind and body healthy and entertained while maintaining quarantine status. If you are finding yourself constantly feeling bored, feel free to keep reading for some ideas on how to keep yourself busy during this time!

One thing that I find has helped tremendously, not only with keeping me busy, but also with helping me focus and redirect my attention, is yoga. It has truly helped me learn more about conscious breathing to help remove the stress of everything that is going on nowadays. Luckily, there are so many different online videos for yoga that you can follow from the comfort of your home. One yoga instructor that I recommend watching is Yoga with Adriene!

Another way to keep yourself entertained is to cook/bake! With random ingredients lying around and a kitchen readily available for use, this is a fun way to distract your mind! If you're in the situation where you are home with many family members around, it could be fun to cook them dinner or some sort of dessert. You may want to try some Quarantine Cooking Recipes, or even surprise your family with a simple "Breakfast in Bed" with eggs and/or pancakes! Since I am not the best cook, I have been starting slow by trying to teach myself the many different ways to make eggs in the morning. So far, I'm loving sunny side up the most!

I have found that one thing that has kept me very distracted throughout this past week is watching movies. I have never been much of a television/Netflix type of person, but lately I have found myself diving into the world of cinema. If you're in the couch potato mood and you're looking for a good movie to watch, one of the Best Movies on Netflix might be a good option for you!

Lastly, something that is beneficial for keeping you busy (and for school) is making study schedules. Although it may not sound fun, it is so important to make sure that you are keeping track of everything that is due. It might seem like the world has stopped, but school definitely hasn't! I love to use my agenda book to jot down all the assignments that I have to do and make sure that I complete them on time. The best feeling is being able to cross off tasks that you have finished. It is also very helpful to use post-its as reminders for when due dates are approaching. It can be challenging to stay motivated to do work with classes being online, but make sure that you don't forget about the importance of school!

Make sure to stay happy, healthy, and safe everyone!
