Last year when I moved off campus into Downtown Binghamton, I got to really experience all the food Binghamton has to offer. I am going to go through my top 10 Binghamton restaurants and show you all that they have to offer!
10) Spiedie and Rib Pit (Front St Location)
At number 10 is Spiedie and Rib Pit located at 1274 Upper Front St, Binghamton, NY, 13901. This place came as a recommendation from my boss, and she really stressed that the Front Street location is much better than the Vestal one located closer to campus. The first time I tried this I was really hesitant as I didn't know what a Spiedie was. I have come to learn, Spiedie is a term for a marinated meat cut into cubes, well known in Upstate New York. I personally enjoy their Buffalo Spiedie and Spiedissimo Spiedie. This is definitely a place you will want to check out during your time at Binghamton.
9) Strange Brew
Following the Spiedie and Rib Pit is Strange Brew. They have two locations at 137 Washington Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901, and their Grab & Go location at 101 Court Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901. It is my favorite local coffee shop that has some great food to go along with it. For breakfast, make sure to grab one of their great sandwiches and a freshly brewed coffee. Looking for lunch? It is a must to get their mac & cheese grilled cheese. It is definitely a treat but well worth it. They also have an app that you can download on your phone in order to place orders in advanced or even get them delivered! Any time you are looking for good coffee or a quick bite to eat, be sure to check this place out.
8) Craft Bar + Kitchen
Next up is Craft Bar + Kitchen. It is located at 135 Washington Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901. The restaurant is still new to the Binghamton Bar and restaurant scene as it only opened up in 2018, but it definitely has made its presence known. They are known for their different kinds of sliders and extravagant milkshakes. Their Craft slider, Hot Chix slider, and Korean Pork Belly slider are some of my favorites. You can't go to Craft without getting one of their amazing milkshakes to top it all off. The Peanut Butter Cup and The Unicorn are just some of their flavors, and for those 21 and older, they have the option to spike any of them with an alcohol that pairs nicely with the milkshake flavor. They also are known for offering many craft beers, all located on an aesthetically pleasing chalkboard in the restaurant. Definitely make time to stop by here for a good bite to eat on the weekends, or even during the week when there's a sports game on (if you're into that sort of thing)!
7) Lost Dog Café
Located at 222 Water Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901, Lost Dog Café was created by friends native to the Binghamton area and opened in 1994. Despite the name, there are no dogs in the café, but it was named after one of the owner's dogs who got lost quite a bit. Even though there are no dogs, the food more than makes up for it. A must have is their signature dish, Rigatoni ala Vodka. Their signature dish can be made "old school" meaning cayenne is added for some additional heat. Pair this with the Buffalo Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer and you have an unbeatable meal. Make sure to check this place out whenever you are looking for someplace to eat with a nice ambiance to chat with friends and family.
6) The Stone Fox
The newest restaurant added to the Binghamton bar and restaurant scene, The Stone Fox, is owned by the same owners of Dos Rios and The Colonial. It is a pizza restaurant that opened in 2020 at 15 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901. They offer many types of pizzas, including a Savor This pie, Rosemary + Truffle pie, and Garlic + Prosciutto pie to name a few. Don't forget to try the Spiced Apple Ricotta pie and the Take 5 pie for dessert! Pair with their selections of Beer, Wine, and Cocktails for those 21 and older, or a Mocktail for every age.
5) Burger Mondays
Do you ever feel in the mood for a really good burger? Burger Mondays located at 23 Henry Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901, has got the prefect fix! They offer various starters, soups & salads, and of course burgers! They have many different types of burgers all of phenomenal taste, but if burgers aren't your type of thing, don't worry! They offer a few different types of Chicken sandwiches, a Southern BBQ Pork sandwich, Ahi Tuna burger, a Falafel sandwich, and even a Portobello mushroom sandwich. This is definitely a place to check out in Downtown Binghamton.
4) Garage Taco Bar
Looking for some good food with a street inspired menu, Garage Taco Bar is the place for you! Located at 211 Washington Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901, Garage Taco Bar goes by the motto Tacos & Good Vibes. They have really good tacos, burritos, quesadilla, and my personal favorite of theirs, Fries topped with lime crema. This place is definitely a good one to check out if you are looking for cool vibes and great food.
3) Sake-Tumi
A different cuisine from the rest of the other restaurants I have been suggesting, Sake-Tumi is an asian fusion restaurant and sushi bar located at 71 Court Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901. This is one of the best places to get sushi and other Asian foods in Binghamton. If you are deciding where to eat on a Monday night, choose Sake-Tumi as they have All You Can Eat Sushi for just $23! If you aren't a big sushi fan but love Asian cuisine, they also have entrees like Ramen, Thai Fried Rice, and even Chicken Wings that are worth checking out.
2) Dos Rios
At the number 2 spot is Dos Rios. It is one of the newer restaurants in Binghamton located at 60 Court Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901. They offer a modern twist on traditional Mexican food with an incredible ambiance. As soon as you walk in, your eyes are immediately pulled to the incredible 60 foot mural painted by talented artist Bruce Greig. They have great food including their nachos, tacos and award winning burritos. Food Network voted it the Best Burrito in America! In addition to their great food, they have great drinks to accompany for those who are 21 and older.
1) The Colonial
Finally at the number 1 spot is The Colonial! The Colonial is one of the most well known restaurants in Binghamton located at 56-58 Court Street, Binghamton, NY, 13901. They have really good burgers and some of the best wings I have ever had (they're award winning!). On Saturdays and Sundays, they offer brunch from 11:30am-4pm, and its a great weekend treat. For those of you that are over the age of 21, they have great drinks to accompany the food. My favorite is their Red Sangria or a Moscow Mule. This restaurant is always a go to when you aren't sure where you should eat and is a great place to be with family and friends.
Overall, Binghamton has great food to offer so definitely be sure to check these places out!
